Full Moon in Libra

Posted on April 15th, 2018

It is hard to believe, but it’s Full Moon time again and this one is in Libra! The symbol for Libra is the scales, so it is an excellent time to ask ourselves about balance.

Are we tipping the scales? -- Metaphorically speaking? Libran energy and the beginning of the astrological year is a good time to mention the literal weighing scales too but will address that further in the email.

First, let’s ask:

Are we overextending? Or are we thinking what is in it for me? Maybe some of us are working extra hard to please someone whereas some us may be feeling what is the point in trying?

Libran energy asks us to find balance.  Finding balance has been a challenge for me. I can swing from one extreme to the other. Thoughts in my head say to me Yes, this is good. I am happy, and things are going well with my husband and me. Yay! Then boom the scale falls to the other side. My thoughts go to this situation sucks. I can't believe my husband just did that just when I thought everything was going well. Then I would become frustrated thinking I can't believe I am here again!!

Now I am learning to sit in the middle and find I am not reacting when either of these thoughts come to me. I am an observer of my thoughts.

I like to visualize a seesaw and picture myself sitting in the middle of the seesaw Buddha style not that I can sit like that for too long in "real" time. But I am good at sitting like Buddha in the visualization. I take a few deep breaths and remind myself; I am whole. I have darks and lights. They are all inside me, and it is up to me how to channel these energies.

Balance is the obvious feature of Libran energy. However, there are other characteristics of Libra such as love, fairness, truth, and beauty. Love is an essential aspect to all of us, but the Libran focus on love has a lot to do with partnerships. And sometimes actually can lose the ME in the WE.

Losing ourselves in love poses a problem for us all. If we are giving so much to our relationships, children, jobs and/or communities and have nothing left to give ourselves; the love gets lost.

I believe this may be why so many of us have an imbalanced relationship with food. Some of us are overweight because we look to food to comfort us. While some of us maintain our weight by continually dieting and compulsive exercise. Both are the same just different sides of the spectrum. Ideally somewhere in the middle is where we would like to be. Being able to enjoy food without guilt or shame or thinking I better go for a jog to burn the food off.

The Full Moon on Saturday, March 31 is the first full moon of the astrological year and great time to think about ending a negative relationship you may have with food or an approach you have in your relationship with someone. It is a good time for closing a chapter on an old pattern of behaviour you have in regards to your relationship mindset.

Although Full Moons are about releasing and letting go.  I recommend for this Full Moon in Libra begin a self-care activity into our daily routines. It is paramount that we take care of ourselves and create time for ourselves each day.  A 15-minute tea break, doodle or sketch something, daydream, take a walk, get a manicure, drive around but begin to do something you love each day.  As the saying goes you are worth it!

Learning about my Moon sign really opened things up for me.  I was able to understand why I appreciate some things, behaviours or acts over others.  I became aware of emotions and mindsets around love and relationships.

I understand why I reacted to certain situations the way I did and now can respond more aptly to situations because of this awareness. And learning about my family's Moon signs helped me.  I got a deeper understanding why certain things are important to them and learned to respect these nuisances rather than see them as annoying or odd.

Remember the Moon doesn’t have light of its own rather it is reflecting it.  In astrology, your Moon sign reflects your environment; it describes how you instinctively respond.

Our Moon sign represents our inner self- our instincts, emotions and what makes us feel secure.

Moon blessings to you!

Beth
